Ashoka Thiagarajan is a Los Angeles based violinist and composer who enjoys a busy freelance career performing with numerous orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, New West Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, and Santa Barbara Symphony. He is also an active studio recording musician across many genres ranging from TV, motion picture, jingles, to various recording artists.

Ashoka studied violin performance at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim, Germany. He then moved to Los Angeles where he continued his studies at USC, followed by a fellowship with the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the USA, and Canada, and has also toured twice with his brother Krishna Thiagarajan throughout India. He has participated in Banff Chamber Music Festival in Canada, Giovanni Musici Riva in Italy, and Colorado Springs Summer Music Festival as a consecutive winner of the concerto competition and as the concertmaster of the Festival Orchestra. He has won several first prizes in solo and chamber music at the Jugend musiziert competition in Germany.

Under the name Ashoka Trance, he recently recorded excerpts from his project Rave with the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra which is soon to be released. His composition also includes three string quartets, a symphony, mobile game Line of Fire, and a vast library of electronic tracks.

Born in Germany with Indian and German parents, Ashoka infuses his rich cultural heritage in his compositions. His musical style combines electronica with a classical foundation. His music can be heard at:
