PFB dancers will accompany New West Symphony's performance of Brahms' Hungarian Dances, conducted by Michael Christie. Don't miss this special collaboration!

As a fellow resident company of Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Pacific Festival Balllet performs classic ballets as well as original, full-length ballets for growing audiences. For the past two decades, PFB has cultivated a tradition of dance outreach by collaborating with other organizations to introduce ballet to the community.

On October 5 & 6, the New West Symphony presents a world premiere by Los Angeles-based composer Derrick Skye. "Amalgamation" energetically blends fun with global music influences for this NWS commission written for Concertmaster Alyssa Park.

Derrick's notes on the piece:
“Amalgamation is a violin concerto that blends Persian, Assyrian, Western classical, Jazz, and Blues influences into a single narrative. The piece invites listeners to explore their own unique experiences with cultural identities through music while also reflecting the journey of embracing and participating in a cultural musical identity that transcends one’s own ancestry.”

Congratulations to Lara Downes for the release of her new album, THIS LAND, on PENTATONE!

We're excited to welcome Lara as guest pianist for our November 2 & 3 concerts, where she'll perform music by American composers Eubie Blake, Scott Joplin and Jessie Montgomery.

THIS LAND is a collection of American music embracing the diversity of stories that have shaped the contrasts and contradictions of the American condition. It includes a new reimagining of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Variations on This Land is Your Land.

The New West Symphony Board of Directors is proud to announce that Artistic and Music Director Michael Christie's contract has been extended five years to 2029!

Maestro Christie was appointed to his position in December 2018.

Commissioned by New West Symphony, Amalgamation energetically blends fun with global music influences and is written for NWS Concertmaster Alyssa Park.

Derrick Skye is known for his transcultural approach to music, integrating various musical practices from different cultures around the world into his work. The LA Times has described his music as “something to savor” and “enormous fun to listen to,” while The Times (London) has praised Skye’s music as “deliciously head-spinning.”

New West Symphony is proud to partner with Meadowl

New West Symphony is proud to partner with Meadowlark Service League, a nonprofit organization that has long adopted our Laby Harmony Project as one of the many programs it supports.

Last year, Meadowlark Service League donated over $315K to 30+ local charities in Camarillo and Ventura County, including providing 20 collegiate scholarships.

Their annual fundraiser, A Taste of Camarillo Wine, Brew & Food Festival, is coming up on July 28, and they are looking for volunteers. Please support Meadowlark as they support us by volunteering or by attending their wonderful event.
