2024 Masterpiece Series
Dynamic and engaging performances continue at New West Symphony!
Coming up on October 5 & 6 is the world premiere of a New West Symphony commissioned work by Los Angeles-based composer Derrick Skye, continuing the Symphony’s commissioning program. Familiar favorites include works by Brahms and Mendelssohn. New West Symphony concertmaster Alyssa Park makes her Symphony solo debut with Maurice Ravel’s brilliant Tzigane and the world premiere of Derrick Skye’s atmospheric Amalgamation. Pacific Festival Ballet will also perform.
Also making her New West Symphony main stage debut on November 2 & 3 is pianist Lara Downes playing Jessie Montgomery’s 2024 GRAMMY-winning Rounds and two Rags for Piano and Orchestra by Scott Joplin. The program also includes Dvořák’s epic “New World” Symphony, accompanied by stunning images by photo historian Joseph Sohm.
Join the New West Symphony, Los Robles Children’s Choir and vocal soloists on December 7 & 8 for Winter Spectacular: Holidays of Light, a winter-inspired concert filled with musical light. Oscar-nominated for Best Animated Short Film, The Snowman, based on Raymond Briggs’ picture book with music by Howard Blake, is featured alongside symphonic masterworks and your favorite holiday carols. This is a must-see event for the whole family!
