FAQS
What is a New West Symphony membership?
A membership is a charitable contribution that supports New West Symphony’s musicians, performances, and music education programs. In appreciation of their support, members enjoy priority access to reserve seats throughout the season.
Is my membership tax-deductible?
Yes. Your full membership contribution is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Ticket redemption fees are not tax-deductible.
How does concert access work?
Each membership comes with a performance pass allotment that can be redeemed throughout our performance season. Members reserve seats in advance by paying a $15 per-ticket redemption fee plus $5 ticket fee. Seats are reserved only when a member chooses to attend and contacts New West Symphony to redeem a performance pass(es). Members may redeem a performance pass in any combination during the symphony's six program season, subject to availability. For example, you may redeem one pass at a time and attend all six programs if you already know when you’d like to attend, redeem them all for one event with a larger group, or any configuration in between. Additional performance passes may be purchased for the discount assigned each membership level at the single ticket rate minus the discount.
Performance passes do not accumulate or roll over from year to year. Unused performance passes expire at your membership anniversary.
How do I redeem a performance pass for a reserved seat?
New West Symphony has a dedicated team member who will provide concierge service to help you select your seat(s) and answer questions about other membership benefits. Our office phone number is (805) 497-5800. Membership email correspondence can be sent to membership@newwestsymphony.org
Do members receive free tickets?
No. Membership does not include free tickets. Members receive priority access to reserve seats and pay a per-ticket redemption fee only when they attend.
Do I have to attend all six concerts?
No. Members may redeem their performance passes for as many or as few of our six concert programs each season as they wish. There is no charge for concerts you do not attend.
How is seating assigned?
Seating is based on membership level, reservation date, and availability at the time of booking. Higher membership levels receive earlier access and premium seating areas. You may redeem all of your performance passes at once or at your pace throughout the season.
Why is there a ticket redemption fee?
The ticket redemption fee helps offset the variable costs of presenting live performances, including venue expenses and staffing. Charging the fee only when tickets are used allows the Symphony to keep membership contributions fully charitable.
What are the membership levels and contributions?
Platinum – $600
Gold – $400
Silver – $300
NextGen (35 & under) – $200
Family – $200
What are the benefits of membership?
Each membership includes performance passes (with personalized seat selection), discounts on additional passes, local business incentives, and member support.
May I purchase a membership for either Thousand Oaks or Camarillo performances?
Due to venue size, we are limiting membership in Camarillo to fifty (50) in the inaugural year. However, members may redeem performance passes for either venue.
What is the NextGen membership?
NextGen memberships are designed for patrons 35 and under and offer an affordable way to engage with the Symphony while enjoying the same flexible access model.
What is the Family membership?
Family memberships support multi-generational engagement with the Symphony and provide flexible access for households attending together.
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes. Members receive a tax receipt for their charitable membership contribution and a separate record for any non-deductible ticket redemption fees.
Can I upgrade my membership?
Yes. Members may upgrade their membership level at any time during the season. Benefits are adjusted based on the new level.
I am a current subscriber, how does membership impact me?
We are excited to offer member benefits to patrons who have subscribed by January 23, 2026 as an inaugural program gift to you. We hope you enjoy the membership benefits as they roll out through the year.
Why choose membership instead of buying single tickets?
Membership offers greater flexibility, priority access to seating, and a meaningful way to support the Symphony’s mission, with clear separation between charitable giving and ticket costs.
