Pacific Festival Ballet
Kim Maselli, director
Pacific Festival Ballet (PFB), founded in 1992 by Joyce Hurley, Kim Maselli and Lori Sorensen, fulfilled a vision of bringing a regional ballet company to the Conejo Valley. With a passion for the arts and dance education, these professional women created a foundation of cultivating local talent and introducing ballet to the community at large. The completion of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza in 1994 provided PFB with a perfect home to increase their notoriety and production value. Receiving its appointment as resident company in 2001, PFB proudly performs many classic ballets as well as original, full length ballets for audiences that continue to grow each season. For the past two decades, PFB has emphasized the importance of integrating regional dancers with professional artists in performances. As a result, guest performers from New York City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the Kalinin Dance troupe in Russia have graced the Kavli stage with their extraordinary abilities. PFB cultivates a tradition of dance outreach by collaborating with many other like-minded organizations to introduce ballet to the community. PFB’s partnerships with the Alliance for the Arts, Support the Kids Program and Project Plié enable the arts to reach thousands of underserved children, some for the very first time.
