We're proud to partner with Los Robles Children's Choir for this weekend's Winter Spectacular: Holidays of Light concerts (Dec 7 in Thousand Oaks & Dec 8 in Camarillo).
The choir, led by Emma Roche, will perform four works: "El Burrito Sabanero" (originating in Venezuela), "Los peces en el río" (one of the most popular Spanish language Christmas carols), Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych's "Carol of the Bells” and John Rutter's beautiful arrangement of "Silent Night."

This event is a unique ‘behind the scenes’ experience with Maestro Michael Christie and four guest vocalists: Alaysha Fox, soprano; Julia Metzler, mezzo-soprano; Ashley Faatoalia, tenor; and Patrick Blackwell, bass. At our Dec. 7 & 8 Winter Spectacular concerts, New West Symphony will present the Oscar-nominated animated short film, The Snowman, with orchestra.
Originally published in 1978, The Snowman, created and illustrated by Raymond Briggs, has become one of the world’s most popular children’s books, selling in excess of 8.5 million copies worldwide and translated into over 15 languages.
In keeping with the book, the film of The Snowman is wordless and free of dialogue, except for the now iconic, “Walking in the Air,” which is part of a now timeless musical score, composed by Howard Blake.

This weekend, the New West Symphony will perform J

This weekend, the New West Symphony will perform Jessie Montgomery's "Rounds," which received the 2024 GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Classical Composition.
Rounds for solo piano and string orchestra is inspired by the imagery and themes from T.S. Eliot’s epic poem, Four Quartets. Early in the first poem, Burnt Norton, are these evocative lines:
At the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless;
Neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is,
But neither arrest nor movement. And do not call it fixity,
Where past and future are gathered. Neither movement from nor towards,
Neither ascent nor decline. Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance, and there is only the dance.
