Joshua Ranz, principal clarinet of the New West Symphony has created these fabulous arrangements of Bach’s cello suites for bass clarinet. We think it gives them a very friendly quality.
The Sarabande is a clever arrangement for 2 bass clarinets, with Josh performing both parts in a split screen. It highlights one big difference between string instruments and wind instruments: you can play 2 notes at once on a string instrument but you can’t on a wind. If you love the Sarabande with cello, you really should hear this unique and masterful interpretation by Josh. Listen and let Joshua know how you enjoyed them!

Very enjoyable. Well done!
Thank you for your sensitive and beautiful playing. I appreciate the gift.
Having played the bass clarinet in the UCLA classical and marching bands, I realize what an outstanding effort these recordings are. Congratulations to Joshua Ranz for this achievement.
