An orchestra contains the following string instruments:
- Violin – in 2 sections, First Violin and Second Violin
- Contrabass, aka double bass
Other string instruments like guitar, mandolin and lute, are not typically part of an orchestra, but may make guest appearances.

For the first time in history, New West Symphony is launching a battle extraordinaire challenging its orchestra sections to compete.
