Violin II, Assistant Principal

Violinist Eric Wuest is a versatile musician equally accomplished as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the University of Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the UCLA Philharmonia. He has participated in international violin competitions, including the Second Benjamin Britten International Violin Competition, the 10th Pablo Sarasate International Violin Competition, and 8th Seoul International Music Competition.

Eric has performed throughout southern California on many chamber music concert series, including the South Bay Chamber Music Society and Dana Point Coastal Arts series. He has attended the Taos School of Music and Banff Summer Chamber Music Residency where he has worked closely with members of the Borromeo, Brentano, Juilliard, Shanghai, and St. Lawrence string quartets, as well as pianists Robert MacDonald and Jamie Parker.

As an experienced orchestral musician, Eric has played under such notable conductors as James Conlon, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Sir Neville Mariner, Nicholas McGegan, David Robertson, Michael Stern, Leonard Slatkin, and David Zinman. He has been a member of the New West Symphony since 2007, and the Santa Barbara Symphony since 2014. Eric was also the principal second violinist on the multi-Grammy Award winning album “Songs of Innocence and of Experience” by William Bolcom, which was recorded at the University of Michigan in 2004.
