Marisa Sorajja

First Associate Concertmaster

Marisa Sorajja joined the first violins of Pacific Symphony in 2012. An avid performer in Southern California, she currently serves as principal first violin of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, associate concertmaster of the Santa Barbara Symphony, and assistant concertmaster of the New West Symphony. Sorajja is also the former concertmaster of the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, the Colburn Orchestra and the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra. During her career she has performed throughout the United States and abroad making appearances at the Philharmonie of Berlin, Kurhaus Scheveningen in The Hague, Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ in Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall and the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Spain. Festival appearances include the Bellingham Festival of Music, Aspen Music Festival, the International Holland Music Sessions, Casalmaggiore International Music Festival and New York String Orchestra Seminar. Sorajja was also a participant in the prestigious Premio Paganini International Violin Competition.

A versatile performer, Sorajja also has many non-classical performances to her credit. She has performed with Sean “Diddy” Combs, Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire, Chaka Khan, Nicky Minaj, Peter Gabriel, Juanes, Bruno Mars, Arturo Sandoval, Martina McBride, Jennifer Hudson and Carol King. She has participated multiple times in the West Coast tours of Andrea Bocelli and has made television appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres ShowJimmy Kimmel Live!American Music Awards, and the BET Awards. Her career has also been extensively profiled by theBangkok Post and Thailand’s GM Magazine.

Sorajja began the violin at the age of 3 under the Suzuki method. She graduated from the University of Southern California where she studied with Robert Lipsett. She continued her studies with him at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music where she obtained her artist diploma.
