Applications Now Open for the New West Symphony's Quick Bowman Piano Competition

(THOUSAND OAKS, CA) – March 1, 2017 -- Applications are now being accepted for the New West Symphony’s Quick Bowman Piano Competition for both youth and young adults.  Applications are due online by March 24.

The Quick Bowman Piano Competition was created by Henry and LaReine Quick in 1990 to give local youth an opportunity to perform before judges and be awarded for their participation in the competition.  Now held in partnership with the New West Symphony, this year there will be two competitions: one for youth ages 7-17 and one for adults ages 18-25.

The youth competition will be held April 23 on the campus of California Lutheran University (CLU) in Thousand Oaks. Applicants will be divided in up to three age categories (dependent upon the number of applications received) with cash prizes awarded for the top three performers in each age group. Winners will perform in a recital at CLU on April 30 and will be given additional performance opportunities throughout the year and masterclasses.

The adult competition will also be held at CLU.  The semi-final round will take place on April 23 with the finals on April 30.  Cash prizes will be available to the winners.

Information and applications are available on the Accepted website: www.getacceptd.com/newwestsymphony.
