Local Composer Miguel Del Aguila's Latin GRAMMY-Nominated Concerto to be Performed at NWS Season Opening Concert

 

(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – September 14, 2016) —The New West Symphony’s season premiere concert on September be the West Coast premiere of the Latin Grammy-nominated “Concierto en Tango” by Camarillo-based composer Miguel Del Aguila. “Concierto en Tango” will be performed by guest artist Mark Tanner in the Danzón concert conducted by music director candidate Tania Miller.

 

Uruguayan-born American composer Miguel del Aguila has resided in Ventura County since 1980.  The three-time Grammy nominated composer has established himself as one of the most highly regarded composers of his generation with compositions that couple drama and driving rhythm with nostalgic nods to his South American roots. He has composed more than 115 works that have been performed worldwide by over 60 orchestras, by thousands of ensembles and soloists, and recorded on 31 CDs. He received two Latin Grammy nominations in 2010 for the CD Salón Buenos Aires and for his work “Clocks”. In 2015 he received a third Grammy nomination for his “Concierto en Tango” which will be performed by the New West Symphony on September 30, 2016 and October 1, 2016.

 
The first performance of Danzón will take place on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 8:00 pm at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, located at 800 Hobson Way in Oxnard.  The program will be repeated on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 8:00 pm at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks. Tickets priced from $29 to $102 are available by phone, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday at 1-866-776-8400.  Tickets are also available in person at the New West Symphony office, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday and through the Symphony web site at newwestsymphony.org.   Tickets are also available at the respective concert hall box offices.

 

About the New West Symphony

Founded in 1995, the New West Symphony is a professional orchestra that draws its players from the rich talent pool of professional Los Angeles-area musicians.
